According to the Metro, Arsenal are very keen on a move for Russian star Fedor Chalov. The report further adds that the North London side are looking to reinforce their side ahead of next season and believe that the Russian international will help them do just that.
The 21-year-old striker finished the 2017/18 season impressively, helping CSKA Moscow finish second in the Premier Liga. That saw his inclusion in the initial Russian squad for the 2018 World Cup before being cut.
But even that failed to hurt his confidence, with Chalov walking into the winter break as the Russian top-tier’s top scorer, even scoring a hattrick. He eventually finished the season by adding six more goals, including three in the final two games of the season, which saw him win the Golden Boot.
It’s a phenomenal achievement and given his age, it makes it even better. However, what does make the move perfect for Arsenal, barring the fact that they are losing Danny Welbeck, is the fact that Chalov is a hard worker.
While the 21-year-old Russian is a goal poacher and does some of his best work inside the box, his work ethic and ability off the ball have been impeccable. This doesn’t mean he can play as a winger, because Fedor Chalov is a striker by trade.
His spatial awareness and consistent ability to find the net is rather impressive, which means playing him anywhere else would be a waste. Yet, the Russian is exactly the kind of player that Arsenal have to sign, especially given their budgetary and various other issues.
Losing the Europa League to Chelsea not only meant that their London rivals got one over but it also meant the absence of Champions League football. This further hurts their budget and the number of players that Unai Emery can add.
However, it also means that the scouting department will have to be top notch and find the right bargains instead of flops. Chalov falls into the former category. If they get the signings right, then it could effectively change their future.

Arsenal need a new striker on their books but it doesn’t have to be a world-class star as they already have two such names on their books. Instead, someone like Fedor Chalov would be absolutely perfect as he represents a bargain and at 21, a man for the future.
