Arsenal were heavily linked with a move for James Maddison but nothing happened and the young midfielder joined Leicester City for £22m instead (Birmingham Live). While Arsenal have had a rather inconsistent, up and down season since then, Maddison has had the exact opposite.
The 22-year-old has taken to the Premier League brilliantly and is arguably one of Leicester City’s best players so far. Now for the North London side, things are about to get a lot worse, especially with the club set to lose star man Aaron Ramsey.
The 28-year-old will be joining Serie A giants Juventus in the summer for free. This leaves the club with a massive hole in the midfield. However, Football expert Tony Cascarino believes that James Maddison has the ability and the talent to replace Aaron Ramsey.
Arsenal should really consider making a move for the 22-year-old. His talent and creativity are undoubted and his work rate will pay rich dividends to Arsenal.
The fact that the Premier League hasn’t eaten him up shows just how well the young midfielder has done. That combined with his ever-present creativity and surprising clinical ability in front of goal will help the North London side.
A number 10 in a footballing world where the position is dying, James Maddison has managed to keep himself relevant. That shows his perseverance and tenaciousness on or off the ball, and why he would be an excellent fix for Arsenal.
Unai Emery demands his players to do their fair share of defensive work and that has seen Mesut Ozil get dropped from the team often. That, in turn, has stifled Arsenal’s creative energies, with the German amongst their most creative players.
Things need to change for Arsenal especially if they are to have any chance of reaching the Champions League. Unai Emery has done brilliantly with the players he has at his disposal but there is only so much the former PSG boss can do.

Arsenal need reinforcements next season and one player they’ll have to replace is Aaron Ramsey, with the Welshman leaving the club. While James Maddison might not be able to make an impact all alone, the 22-year-old would be a long-term option and might help bridge the gap.
