Why Arsenal Should be Scared Of Tottenham This Season?

Share

Last season it was a matter of if and not when for Tottenham, well almost, the London side were sure of finishing the season above Arsenal but for some reason, it didn’t work out and the Gunners ended up finishing in front of their bitter rivals.

The capitulation of Spurs during the last few weeks of the season must have played a lot on the mind of Mauricio Pochettino and he would have had a good long hard look at his side. This season, though, many pundits have placed Tottenham above some of the other bigger clubs in terms of winning the Premier League and even if they do not do that, Arsenal could be one club that Spurs eclipse.

The Gunners were brilliant during the last few weeks of the Premier League, well as equal as Tottenham losing the plot. Mauricio Pochettino though has brought in able replacements and seems to be looking to bring in a few more stars to enjoy that Spurs not only have a great league campaign but also do extremely well in the European competition also.

The London side have brought in the likes of Victor Wanyama and Vincent Janssen, two players who are quality and who will provide Tottenham with a lot of options for the upcoming season. Arsenal, on the other hand, have only brought in Granit Xhaka this season and they still have a few areas in the team which they need to really look at and strengthen.

Arsene Wenger might be confident about how his team might play but Pochettino’s Spurs were absolutely magnificent in the first half of the season and if they can have a similar start to this campaign, they could be tough to catch.

The young team certainly would have learnt a lot from the heartbreak of last season and should be hungry for success. Pochettino himself seems to be picking up stuff from another Argentine, Diego Simeone and that can only add to the grit and determination to the side.

The Argentine manager might not have unleashed a dangerous side all season last time around but it does seem that Spurs are going to be tougher to beat this time around and that can only mean bad news not only for Arsenal but for the other Premier League clubs.

Tottenham have that kind of players who don’t seem to give up and if they can keep most of their stars injury free this season, it could be the first time they lift the Premier League crown. Arsene Wenger and Arsenal fans might take a few jabs at Tottenham due to their history of doing well over the years but that won’t count for much as last season every Gunner fan was worried about the fact that their rival could end up finishing above them.

While Arsenal seem to be going through the motions once again, it is Tottenham that could be on the verge of achieving something special. As long as they have worked on some of their issues and problems, they can beat any club in the land and this should be a warning to Arsenal. Either they shape up and be prepared for the long haul or they could be overtaken by the young, determined and hungry side that Tottenham is.
