Arsenal RoundUp: Transfer Bids Made For Man City & Liverpool Players

Share

Here is a roundup of the latest news across the Emirates

While Club Captain Thomas Vermaelen’s future is yet to be decided, rumours are flying in that the Gunners are already looking for replacements. Vermaelen has been heavily linked with Spanish giants Barcelona and according to Skysports, “Barcelona have moved ahead of Manchester United in the race to sign the Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen.

With that in the mind Arsene Wenger is reportedly looking after premier league talents Daniel Agger from Liverpool and Matija Nastasic from Manchester City. According to English tabloid Metro, the Gunners are clear favorites to sign Nastasic as City have transfer listed the Serbian and could be available on loan as well.

It is also said that, City will sell the defender for the highest bidder with the likes of Juventus, Galatasaray and Inter Milan interested in the 21-year old. Wenger is thought to be an admirer of Nastasic before Man City signed him and if Vermaelen does leave to Barca or United, Nastasic will be his first priority.

In other shocking news, Daily Mirror reports that the Gunners are preparing to bid for the Reds centre back, 29, despite efforts by his former club Brondby to bring him back to Denmark. The Danish International is considered as surplus at Anfield after the arrival of Southampton defender Lovren, but might be a potential target for Arsenal, who can land him as a backup for Mertesacker and Koscielny.

The defender has expressed his desire to leave the club in the past, and it might be the right time for Wenger to table a bid. Having already signed the versatile Calum Chambers, both Agger and Nastasic will be a welcome addition to the club as they would head into the season with four quality center backs for the first time in the recent past.
