After fielding Petr Cech ahead of David Ospina in the goal, Arsenal managed to keep Bayern Munich from getting into the score sheet as the Czech International made some vital saves to deny Vidal, Thiago, Lewandowski and Costa.
Hector Bellerin-8
The Spanish youngster had a tough game as he was tormented by Douglas Costa often, but he managed to improve and did a fantastic work in Arsenal’s second goal as he provided Mesut Ozil with the assist.
Per Mertasacker-8
His selection over Gabriel Paulista raised many eyebrows before the start as his pace could be exploited by Bayern’s attack. But the Germain silenced his critics and put up a stunning display as he matched in-form Robert Lewandowski physically and aerially and prevented him from scoring a goal.
Laurent Koscielny-8
Koscielny was involved in numerous important interceptions to deny Bayern and his delivery of balls from defence also helped Arsenal launch several potent counter-attacks. He also produced an excellent recovery challenge to deny Lewandowski an equaliser in stoppage time.
Nacho Monreal-8
Monreal continues to impress and must be a contender for Arsenal’s most consistent player of the season so far. Monreal was defensively excellent against Thomas Muller and also offered an attacking threat in which he delivered the cross from which Walcott almost scored.
Santi Cazorla-7
Cazorla had a quiet game by his standards and it was evident by Arsenal’s possession in the match. But he made his presence felt as he provided the free kick from which Giroud bundled home Arsenal’s first goal.
Francis Coquelin-6.5
Coquelin wasn’t able to dominate the midfield battle as he usually does in Premier League games. Bu his work rate was very good as he helped Arsenal win the ball back and launch counterattacks.
Aaron Ramsey-5.5
The Welshman didn’t do much before he was taken off from the field early in the second half due to a hamstring injury.
Mesut Ozil-8.5
He couldn’t do much in he game as Bayern dominated the possession, but he was at his best when Arsenal countered and scored Arsenal’s second goal in the dying moments of the game.
Alexis Sanchez- 8
In spite of failing to get into the scoresheet, Alexis had a good game as he was involved in almost all the counters Arsenal had.
Theo Walcott-
Walcott almost scored a goal as Manuel Neuer came up with a stunning save off the line. The English striker used his pace threatened the Bayern defenders, but he lacked finishing.
