Now this is real good news for Arsenal fans. Yes! You got that one right! Arsenal manage to continue their run for the top four in the Premier League after that sublime win against West Ham at Upton Park last night. Two goals on the verge of half time provided the means to Gunners achieve a well deserved 2-1 triumph against The Hammers. On the other hand, West Ham too were bang on, on their efforts. • Wojciech Szczesny (7/10): The Polish looked quite assured between the bars. He withstood the bruising attack from The Hammers with to his fullest capabilities. Although he turned out badly at Kouyate’s deflected header, however, he cannot be laid a bad trip on for that. All in all, great going by Szczesny.
• Mathieu Debuchy (6/10): The Frenchman did not have his best day in the field last night. Seemed a bit shaky at times, especially with Aaron Cresswell’s full back-play. Also, struggled on occasions while tackling Kouyate. Overall, decent, nonetheless, could have done a bit better.
• Per Mertesacker (6.5/10): Decent show from the German. Found it difficult to counter Diafra Sakho’s agile maneuvers at the initial stages of the game; however, got a good grip as the game progressed.
• Nacho Monreal (6.5/10): Another decent performer for the Gunners. Looked unsteady at times, especially in the early hours of the West Ham attack; nevertheless, seemed more settled down as the game moved on.
• Laurent Koscielny (7.5/10): Solid performance by the Frenchman, despite failing to make good of that free header at a set-piece and playing it ridiculously across the goal. Altogether, his defence was up to the mark.
• Mathieu Flamini (5.5/10): Disheartening performance from the skipper in the middle of the park. Had limited impact overall and utterly failed to carry out his job of safeguarding the Arsenal defence. Nothing more to write about the French.
• Francis Coquelin (6.5/10): Seemed out of astuteness occasionally, particularly when face to face with Stewart Downing. However, gave his best efforts and covered the field when called upon. On the whole, the Frenchman was up to snuff.
• Santi Cazorla (8/10): Got the first breaking through for the Gunners from a penalty shot in the 42^nd Looked steady with the ball and creative in his maneuvers. Above all, he kept his nerves under adversity. Undoubtedly, one of the best performers at London Derby.
• Alex Oxlade Chamberlain (6.5/10): The Ox was quite good last night. He made a great assist which ultimately eventualized into Welbeck’s goal. However, the Englishman did appear quite on and off at times.
• Danny Welbeck (7/10): The Englishman appeared to push himself a lot, nevertheless, could not create much of an impact until his shot on goal at the fag end of the first half. He seemed more assured in the second half. All in all, a commendable performance by the ex Manchester United guy.
• Alexis Sanchez (8/10): The Chile star has stood up for the Gunners in a number of occasions and last night was no exceptions. Although, no goals churned off the boots of the striker, yet he played an instrumental part in easing the pressure on his teammates, courtesy his driving runs and skillful tackles. A performance par excellence by the striker.
