Arsenal Latest: Demba Ba Talks About Arsenal Move, Wenger Talks About Higuain

All the latest news and gossip from The Emirates. Including Arsene Wenger admitting Higuain Pursuit, Demba Ba’s January move is still on and others.

Ahead of Arsenal’s crucial Champions League tie against Napoli, Arsene Wenger has talked about his pursuit of Gonzalo Higuain during the Summer. Right from the day, when Arsenal management announced the £70 million transfer kitty, Higuain was linked with the Gunners constantly and at one stage the striker was alleged to have a medical at the Emirates.

However, Higuain moved to Napoli for £34.5m and the Argentine will spear head the Serie A side’ attack when they travel to the Emirates this Tuesday.

“We were working on two or three targets and he was one of them,” Wenger told Arsenal.com. ”It didn’t come off in the end, that doesn’t take anything away from his quality.

“Napoli took advantage of that at the right moment, it’s more about timing as well. In the end Real Madrid sold two great players, one of them went to Napoli, one [Mesut Ozil] went to Arsenal so it’s 1-1 on that front.”, concluded the Arsenal manager.

In other news, Chelsea striker Demba Ba has talked about his Arsenal move which collapsed on the Transfer deadline day as Jose Mourinho did not want the Senegalese forward to move to the Emirates claiming that he is not willing to sell Ba to a fellow Premier League competitor.

Ba was keen on leaving for the Emirates because he wanted first-team football. It will disappoint the Senegal hitman, who had said: “I wanted to play – and I want to play. And since then he has started three Chelsea games during which he has failed to score in anyone of them. “I was ready to go there [Arsenal] but it didn’t happen.”

Serge Gnabry who had a poor game during Arsenal’s Capital One Cup clash against West Brom was brilliant yesterday scoring his first Premier League goal for the Gunners. The 18-year old, thanks to Walcott’s injury has started in three consecutive games for Arsenal and it looks like he will continue his run with the first team for at-least one more month until the England speedster returns.

Gnabry’s goal made him Arsenal’s second-youngest Premier League goalscorer – Cesc Fabregas being the youngest. And Arsene Wenger was quick to praise the youngster.

‘He is surprising,’ said the Frenchman. ‘He has the talent, but he has the personality on the pitch as well. He doesn’t look timid, he looks to play with belief and, of course, talent. Unfortunately he is another player for Germany, he’s not English.

‘He was one-year-old when I came to Arsenal, I can’t believe it. Now I have some players in my squad who were not born when I arrived at Arsenal.
