Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has definitely understood that his lack of transfer activity in the summer window has landed the club in deep waters. They cant seem to get ahead of the mediocre opponents and this is not what we expect from a side who should be challenging for the titles. Their main area of trouble is the centre of the midfield and they are lacking the rigidity there. This is primarily the reason why they cannot dominate against the lesser and the more physical sides and end up struggling.
This has even posed problems for their attacking players and men like Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla cannot impose themselves fully with their frail midfield. Now it is a given that they will try and capture Sami Khedira in the January transfer window with Real Madrid looking to offload the German. But it is not like that Wenger is the only man behind him as Manchester United are also thought to be in the chase for him. With their financial power United may very well get their hands on him first and Wenger may have to look at other options then. We provide three such alternatives with experience of EPL to be signed by Wenger.
1. Morgan Schneiderlin
He was almost signed by Wenger in the summer, but then Saints decided to keep him and in the end he has remained a Southampton player. If Wenger is given a free run, certainly he would want him in his team more than anyone else. He is the kind of player who can excel for Arsenal. A deep lying playmaker, Schneiderlin has the flair and the talent to take on opposition and also assist the team while going up. We should not be surprised if he becomes a Gunner very soon. And yes, Morgan Schneiderlin has that French connection!
2. Fabian Delph
The Aston Villa player has already earned many admirers and at 24, he is at the right age to move to a bigger club. He has that physical presence and the command in the midfield which Arsenal are lacking and he would solve all of Wenger’s problems instantaneously. Delph has played more than 90 matches in the Premier League and attained the experience needed to jump ship to a club like Arsenal. But the only problem with Delph can be that while he has all the qualities of a defensive midfielder, his ability to playmake from the deep is questionable.
3. Mohamed Diamé
The current Hull City midfielder can be one more decent option for Wenger. He joined Hull this term from West Ham after playing more than 70 matches in the Premier League for West Ham. The Senegalese is 27 years old and can ply his trade at the highest level for a couple of more years and with him Arsenal will be able to have a physical presence in the midfield. This will also be a great opportunity for Diame and he would be keen to join the London side.
