There has been a surprise story out in the market today and more of a strange one. Arsenal have been linked with a transfer of Inter Milan and Argentina forward Diego Milito. There has never been a strong rumour linking the Argentinian International with Arsenal in the past and it looks rather strange mainly because of his age. Milito is 33 now and knowing Wenger, the chances of Arsenal signing him are very less.
The story came out first in ladbrokes that Arsene Wenger is currently monitoring the situation at Inter Milan. This is mainly because of the financial trouble that the Nerazzurri are in. The Italian club which is currently facing trouble dealing with their huge wage structure are ready to cut loose some of their players in order to stabilize themselves financially. Another player who is touted to leave is the Dutch International Sneijder mainly because of his reluctance to accept the pay cut.
Another point that has been struck upon is the fact that Arsene Wenger has made some similar signings in the recent past with Henry, Sol Campbell and Mickael Silvestre as cheap winter transfers. This will be another cheap business for Wenger. Milito, 33, will not cost much for Arsenal and he also has the experience that it takes to play at the highest level. A short 6 month spell at North London or a season after that may not be much of a problem for both Milito and Arsenal.
Though there are not any strong evidence to this rumour, Milito if brought in by Wenger will only be a valuable addition for the Gunners. However, there wont be big difference past January if Wenger stops with this signing alone.
