Arsenal Injury Updates – Walcott And Flamini To Miss Important Games

Share

A roundup of all the latest injury news from the Emirates.

Arsenal have a couple worrying news ahead of their Champions League clash against Dortmund. Mirror reports that Walcott will likely miss three more Arsenal games after suffering an injury set back. The England International was set to make the bench during Dortmund’s clash but will remain sidelined for another two weeks, which will see him miss out Arsenal’s Capital One Clash against Chelsea.

Talking about Walcott, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said:

“He had a setback. He had to stop, to jog again, I don’t think we will see him against Dortmund, nor Crystal Palace nor Chelsea.

“He is at least two weeks away now.”

This would come as a major blow for the Gunners as Walcott was expected to team up with the likes of Cazorla and Ozil soon. With big games round the corner, it has to be either Ramsey or Wilshere taking up the role on the right wing until the speedster recovers.

In other news, midfielder Mathieu Flamini is an injury doubt for Borussia Dortmund clash as well. Flamini who had a nasty clash of heads with Norwich’s Alexander Tettey was subbed off in the first half of the game.

“He had concussion,” said Wenger. “He had double vision, so on the advice of the doctor I took him off because I did not want to take any gamble.

“I don’t know if he’ll be available for Dortmund, it depends now what the doctors will decide.

“Sometimes they are not allowed to play for five days, it depends how big the concussion was.”

Although Flamini’s return to Arsenal raised few eye brows earlier, the midfielder has been the real unsung hero this season. His presence in the midfield has added a certain tenacity and steel to the Arsenal engine. With him not available for the game, it has to be the in-form Ramsey to team up with Mikel Arteta in the midfield leaving Wilshere, Ozil and Cazorla to play in the attacking third.
