Arsenal vs Borussia Dortmund – WHY DID WE LOSE??
Truth of the matter is Arsenal have a good squad, we play as a Team, we have talented players and have the confidence. So why did we lose? Was it because Metersacker is too slow and puts us under pressure in counter attacks all the time? Was it cause Gibbs takes expensive gambles at the middle of the park with his positioning during a counter, making that vital square ball easy to make? Was it the gap left by Flamini? Or the lack of attacking edge that prevented us from outscoring Dortmund?
Nope! We lost the game because Borussia Dortmund was the better team on the day as they were eventually more efficient, it was very clear, that they studied Arsenal, they knew exactly what to do in every situation offensively and defensively. They took over our stadium as if it was theirs, they took over our pitch as if it was theirs. Although our team is good, and flooded with midfielders, this issue has been voiced before – Our defense is the suspect and our striking force too. When a crucial element (Flamini) is removed from this great playing side, the team seems to lose 40% of its efficiency.
I hope this problem is addressed in January when the windows opens. And I also hope our manager steps up, and does the tactical homework that he was supposed to do when facing a good team like Borussia Dortmund. We can’t just rely on Plan A all the time.
GOOD GAME… GOOD FIGHT…. I’M PROUD.. and will take this one on the Chin. Victoria Concordia Crescit!
