Arsenal are reportedly preparing a summer bid for Palermo star Josip Ilicic. It is believed that Palermo’s relegation would force Ilicic to move away from Stadio Barbera in coming weeks.
According to TalkSport, the Gunners are about to make a initial bid for the Slovenian as soon as the season gets over.
Arsenal scouts were monitoring Ilicic for more than a year now. They already made inquiries about Ilicic in 2011 but were forced to stop their pursuit as Palermo quoted a ridiculous 25mil fee for the versatile midfielder (who can also play as striker). Now Palermo will be forced to sell for much cheaper price as they are desperate for money to re-build the squad.
Russian giants Zenit St. Petersburg are also in the race to sign Ilicic.
Ilicic has bagged 10 goals in 31 Serie A appearances this season.
