Arsenal And Tottenham Fans Keep An Eye Out For This 16-year-old Strike Talent: Who Is He?

Nigeria were once the powerhouses in African football but those glory days have been a thing of the past for the Super Eagles. The team weren’t just good in Africa, their youth teams consistently did well in the youth World Cups but the U17 team for the Super Eagles certainly caught the eye of many in the U17 World Cup.

One of the standout players for Nigeria in the competition was Victor Osimhen; the 16-year-old was exceptional in the U17 team and is now being targeted by many of the top clubs in Europe. The lanky striker seems to be built for the Premier League and Tottenham and Arsenal have kept tabs on him, in fact Tottenham were all set to sign him but the decision still hasn’t been made as to which club in London the youngster would be moving to.

From the roadside to London?

The stark reality of African football is all too evident with the story for Osimhen; he is the youngest in a family of six and was selling wares on the streets of Nigeria. It was football that actually saved him from a life of hardship and he hasn’t let go of that.

The 16-year-old plays for Ultimate Strikers in Nigeria and he has been doing just that – scoring goals a aplenty – for the Nigeria U17 team. Osimhen had stated earlier that he idolizes Didier Drogba and is certainly build like the former Chelsea striker.

Osimhen isn’t just strong on the ball, he does have great pace and loves to run behind the defence. He might be lanky but his speed is one of his greatest assists, he is also great with the ball being crossed in the air and his physicality is a great trait to have in the air.

His finishing is something that should be highlighted as well. Osimhen can score goals from all positions and a variety of goals as well, from headers to curlers to smart finishes, he seems to have it all in his arsenal and that could well be his greatest talent. He is a natural finisher and finding someone so young with such ability is a rarity in a day when so much time and effort is put into training.

Osimhen has a bright future and is one of the best players to come out of Nigeria in quite a while, just where he ends up could decide his future. Both Arsenal and Tottenham have great academies and Arsene Wenger or Mauricio Pochettino have done wonders with youngsters. Osimhen is a name to keep an eye out for and just how well he does is all dependant on how hard he is willing to work in London or anywhere else.
