Are Manchester City the Favourites for the Premier League Crown ahead of Chelsea?

Share

Just two games into the season and we can see just what the big clubs have done in their quest to win the Premier League title. The early bets were on Chelsea and Arsenal, but both London clubs have stuttered in the initial phase of the campaign, but there are two clubs who have got 100% records, so far. Manchester City and Manchester United both have six points from two games but have had contrasting performances so far.

Arsenal

The Blue side of Manchester has been all conquering while the Red half has been a fair bit lucky in getting the two wins. Manchester City looks to be in great touch, people might have expected them to win over West Bromwich Albion rather comfortably but the way they demolished Chelsea in this weekend’s round of games, shows they are ready to take the Premier League crown back from the Champions.

Manchester City have looked formidable, they look hungry and importantly, all their players seem to be clicking. Yaya Toure, David Silva, Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany and even Fernandinho all have hit top gear. The performance from every player in Blue seems to be in line with the final run in which could land them the title.

Arsenal were defeated by a well-drilled West Ham United side in the first game of the season and they were slightly lucky to win over Crystal Palace. Chelsea, on the other hand, have started the season in poor form, having picked up just one point from their two games. The Blues look tired, even before the season has taken off and that will be a concern for Jose Mourinho.

Chelsea

Manchester City might be leading the table now, but the Premier League season is just in its infancy. There are 36 more games to go and it will be an unpredictable season at least by the way things are going. Manchester City do seem to be the favourites for the title at the moment but there is something as peaking too early and that would be the fear for most Manchester City fans.

The Blue half of Manchester are on fire, but the real test for Pelligrini would be the UEFA Champions League, that is probably the one place where the team have been disappointing over the recent seasons. The challenge for City would depend on how well they deal with the extra games from cup competitions, they do not have the largest squad available and we all remember how much the team struggled last season when Aguero was injured and Toure was out of form.

Sergio Aguero

At the moment, there is no catching Manchester City, Manuel Pellegrini has drilled them really and they seem hungry for success. They might not be able to continue this blistering form for the entire Premier League season but they have laid down a marker for other teams and seem to be the best bet for the Premier League title, this season.
