Answer to Nuno’s goalscoring conundrum? Wolves would solidify chances of top ten finish by signing this powerful League One ace

Why Wolves should go all out for Tom Eaves in January

Wolverhampton Wanderers started the 2018/19 campaign on a promising note but have hit the rocks in the last couple of months. However, their fortunes have improved after their surprise 2-1 win against Chelsea at the Molineux Stadium on Wednesday.

That was followed by yet another 2-1 win against Newcastle United over the weekend, resulting in Wolves finding themselves placed 10th in the league standings.

Both were much-needed wins for Santo’s side but it is clear that the manager must bring in more quality to aim for a top ten finish.

One area the Portuguese tactician should target strengthening in January is the attacking department. Wolves’ attack has failed to fire despite Nuno possessing an array of talent in his squad.

The likes of Raul Jimenez, Adama Traore, Diogo Jota, Helder Costa and Leo Bonatini offer Wolves plenty of options in the attack. But apart from Jimenez, who has scored four goals in 16 league games, none of the others has come up with the goods consistently.

To solve his team’s goalscoring woes, a striker has to be at the top of Nuno’s January wish list. And Wolves must eye a move for Gillingham star Tom Eaves when the transfer window re-opens next month.

Tom Eaves has been a talisman at Gillingham this season, scoring goals at a consistent rate in the League One. The 26-year-old forward is the League One’s current top scorer with 13 goals and firmly remains on course to beat last season’s tally of 18 goals.

At 6ft 5in, Tom Eaves is a natural goalscorer, a player who will instinctively score goals whenever given an opportunity. He is excellent in the air, a superb header of the ball and a powerful shooter from long range. He is strong, powerful and excels with his hold-up play and intelligent movement that creates spaces for his teammates to exploit.

Eaves also has a decent turn of pace despite boasting of a towering frame. At 26, he is entering the prime years of his career and would provide Wolves with quality and cover in case of injuries. He has Premier League experience as well, having been on Bolton’s books from 2010 to 2016.

Hence, Wolves must go all out to sign Tom Eaves in January to solve their goalscoring conundrum.
