Another Andre Santos? Why Arsenal Should Avoid Signing This Brazilian

Share

The defensive cover for Arsenal might be a bit of a problem especially with Paulista out, but Arsene seems to be on the job and a defender has been linked with a move for another defender but it isn’t a centre back as Arsenal fans might have expected, it would rather be for a right back, Fabinho, a Brazilian at that!

Arsenal have needed some cover for defence, but this seems to be the wrong player for a position that does not need any strengthening, Fabinho might be playing on loan ta Monaco from his parent club Rio Ave but he should not be joining Arsenal.

Another Andre Santos?

Alright, so he might not be as bad as Andre Santos, the other Brazilian defender that Arsene Wegner signed but currently Arsenal have more pressing issues, especially in central defence. The likes of Koscielny and Mertesacker aren’t getting any younger and with Mertesacker just trudging along in the Arsenal XI, they need to replace the German and fast.

Calum Chambers has not been able to provide the sort of performances expected of him from his big money move and he still needs time to develop into the centre back that Arsenal want. They should instead invest in getting a top quality centre back and a top quality defensive midfielder into the team as well.

Coquelin might be doing a job at the moment but he is young and cannot be expected to play in every game, he should be given a rest as well, Flamini isn’t getting any younger and getting a defensive midfielder should be a top priority for the Gunners as well. The need for these reinforcements is more important than getting another wing back, a couple of positions that Arsenal are already blessed with.

Arsenal already have Bellerin, Monreal and Gibbs at the moment and the likes of Debuchy and Chambers are still there to play in case of injury. The likes of Bellerin and Monreal have impressed a lot this season and even Gibbs has been pretty decent in his role, so for Arsenal and Arsene thinking of getting another wing back at Arsenal does not actually make any sense.

Fabinho might be playing as a right back but playing for Monaco in the Ligue 1 is not the same as stepping up in the Premier League, of course if Arsene does want to try his hand out he could try and get him on loan, but not everyone is a Premier League ready product and Fabinho surely is not ready to make that leap up, yet.
