An article from Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf’s Friday edition claimed that Louis van Gaal has told Manchester United to sign three top players by this Monday. Matteo Darmian is a done and on Saturday the Premier League outfit announced an agreement to bring Bayern Munich’s Bastian Schweinsteiger to Old Trafford and also unveiled Darmian, which completed two out of three deals.

Many of the Red Devils’ fans believe that the third and final signing will most likely be Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin, though the Dutch manager’s side in need of a central defender as well.

However, Nicolas Gaitan’s name has also been linked with the club once again and the Argentine international could leave Benfica and move to England.

Portuguese newspaper Record added on Saturday that United defender Rafael’s agent told them that the club is in talks with with Benfica to sign Gaitan, with his client being part of the deal.

Cassiano Pereira stated, “To my knowledge, the clubs are negotiating for Gaitan and one proposal on the table is the output of Rafael to Portugal. Rafael wants Benfica because it’s a major European club that is always in contention for titles. If the business moves forward, we can meet to chat, but I’m sure it will not be very difficult to reach an agreement.”

Well, if these claims are to be believed, a deal could be on for the 27-year old attacker with Van Gaal’s side looking to complete yet another signing.
