Comparing Arsenal’s on-loan star to this young Chelsea No. 10 – Stats show surprising results about who is better

A statistical comparison between Dani Ceballos and Mason Mount

A two-transfer window ban on Chelsea forced new manager Frank Lampard to bring some academy players into the senior squad. Most of the players have taken the opportunity to express their potential and many have established themselves as regular starters.

Tammy Abraham has impressed the most but attacking midfielder Mason Mount has emerged as one of the most promising talents in the Premier League.

Mason Mount

Mount has started all of Chelsea’s Premier League games this season. He has found the back of the net four times in nine appearances. He also made three appearances in the Champions League while playing the UEFA Super Cup against Liverpool.

He spent his last season on loan with Derby County, while Lampard was their manager. He scored nine goals and provided four assists in 38 Championship appearances while netting twice in the Carabao Cup’s four games.

Mount has registered an average of 0.58 goals per game in club competitions. Last season, his average was 0.24 goals per game and he scored 11 goals in 46 club matches. He has taken a total of 24 shots, out of which, 11 have been on target for the Blues this season. He has completed 81 per cent of his passes.

Although Mount is yet to open his account for England, he has represented the Three Lions fours times in the Euro 2020 qualifiers. However, he scored once in four games in the Under-21 Euro qualifiers.

Unai Emery boosted his squad before the beginning of the season. Arsenal bought Nicolas Pepe, David Luiz and brought in Ceballos on loan.

Ceballos has been excellent for Arsenal and the Gunners are certainly doing well with him.

Dani Ceballos

Ceballos boasted a 91% passing accuracy for Real Madrid in the 2018/19 season. He featured in 23 La Liga games last season, scoring three goals and failing to produce any assist. In the Champions League too, he made just three appearances and failed to leave his mark.

This season, Ceballos has featured in all Premier League games and produced two assists in his first league start. However, he has struggled since then, even admitting so himself after Arsenal’s clash against Liverpool.

On one hand, Mount is improvising game after game while Ceballos has struggled to cement his place in the regular starting XI. While both sides are seen as some of the best attacking teams in the Premier League, Chelsea have scored 19 goals to Arsenal’s 13, making the case clear as to who has worked better.
