According to a report in the Guardian, Manchester United’s tumultuous summer doesn’t look like it’s getting over anytime soon, as the latest player to be linked with an exit is their starting centre-back Victor Lindelof. The Swedish international was one of United’s best players last season.
The Swedish Player of the Season joined United after spending a few years in Benfica. His Manchester United career had a bit of a stuttering start after a howler against Huddersfield Town spelt trouble for him even before it’d kicked off.
The Swede, however, folded his sleeves up and made a fantastic comeback the following season. The £31m star impressed over the two group games against Juventus, which showed his potential to the Old Trafford faithful. He didn’t look back since those games and made one of the two centre-back spots his own.
Lindelof is very calm and composed on the ball and loves driving from the defence to the midfield, helping United build their attack from the back. The problem for United has been finding a reliable partner for him.
Chris Smalling has actually not been bad alongside him. Lindelof has improved on his physicality and looks more assured in his battles with burly forwards. That said, he looks all the more powerful with a physical presence like Smalling.
Smalling, however, isn’t good at building attacks from the back and this puts a lot of pressure on Lindelof. Manchester United have been linked with Leicester City’s Harry Maguire and this would be a great partnership for the Swede to flourish in.
United have also signed Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who is a fantastic defensive full-back, from Crystal Palace. Luke Shaw was the Manchester United Player of the Season for 2018/19 and David De Gea looks set to sign an improved deal.
With all this potential on the cards for Manchester United, the Red Devils can finally look forward to having a strong defence.

Victor Lindelof has a big part to play in making sure that this defence improves and United must do everything to ensure he’s not considering a move away from the club.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping that he can get United back to being the dangerous team that he played for and to do that, he will need his best players to help him. Victor Lindelof is one of them and he should stay.
