Back in February, Werder Bremen winger Milot Rashica was heavily linked to Crystal Palace. The Eagles were expected to table a bid at least for the winger in the summer but there was no concrete interest. As a result, no deal materialised and he stayed put at Werder Bremen.
Milot Rashica, 23, joined Werder Bremen in January 2018 after three solid years in Holland with Vitesse Arnhem. The Kosovo international enjoyed a really strong 2018/19 Bundesliga campaign that saw him bag nine goals and five assists in 26 games.
The 23-year-old has had a good start to the new season; however, Bremen are without a win in their last four games. With Rashica impressing in the Bundesliga, Crystal Palace must reignite their interest and go for him when the transfer window reopens.
Crystal Palace are currently sixth in the table following a good start to the new Premier League season. But there are a few problems Roy Hodgson needs to address if his team is to surprise everyone and bag a place in Europe next year. One of those areas is the striking department, with the Eagles scoring just eight times in nine games thus far.
Jordan Ayew may have impressed but he needs more support from his fellow forwards. Wilfried Zaha’s future remains up in the air and Andros Townsend has failed to hit top form this term. The south Londoners did surprise many by handing Christian Benteke a new contract last week, although it’ll be the big Belgian’s last chance to repay Hodgson’s faith in him.
If Palace genuinely want to get into the top six this season, they must freshen up their attack with the addition of Milot Rashica.
A versatile player, Rashica can play on either wing or through the middle. The Kosovo international possesses plenty of pace, trickery, flair and movement, and his direct approach would be a real asset for Palace. He is extremely quick who can beat his man and deliver a cross in the blink of an eye.
Not only is he adept at linking up with his teammates with clever touches and flicks in the final third but also the Kosovo international is also an extremely useful outlet during counter-attacks. Rashica has developed into somewhat of a goal threat at Bremen in the last 15-18 months, which should bode well with the Eagles who are in desperate need of different sources for goals.
Rashica seems to be improving with every game that goes by and Palace would be wise to snap him up soon before other clubs start circling.
