7 Goals In Just 9 Games, But Why Manchester United Should Avoid Signing This Attacker

England have been missing the “next big thing” for some time now, the Golden generation of Gerrard and Lampard have gone and with a new, more younger England team coming up, it is something new to see an English player doing well for a club, especially if top clubs like Manchester United are looking forward to signing the player.

Saido Berahino has been a revelation for West Bromwich Albion from the last season, playing without fear for the Baggies, the first time people noticed the Burundi born player was when he scored his first premier league goal to help his side win over Manchester United at Old Trafford in September 2013.

He only scored 5 Premier League goals last season but this season, the 21 year old has scored 7 goals in just 9 games and the Manchester United scouts are at it again trying to sign another English player and help his development. Berahino does have a contract till 2017 with the Baggies but if Manchester United wants a player, they do sign them. The attacker has been at his best for West Brom and here are 3 reasons why signing for Manchester United would not work.

Manchester United has enough attacking options

With the likes of Radamel Falcao, Wayne Rooney, Robin Van Persie and Juan Mata already at the club, Berahino would end up on the bench for most of this season and next season as well. Playing day in and day out is what he needs to do, signing right now for Manchester United would stagnate his career as he would only get a handful of games. The case of Wilfried Zaha comes to mind; he moved to Manchester United and then really lost all the form he had built up at Crystal Palace.

More time to develop

Berahino has only broken into news thanks to an incredible 18 months for West Bromwich Albion. He is a good player but playing and doing well for West Bromwich Albion is completely different to playing for Manchester United. He still has a few chinks in the armour, he does not have the greatest physical presence and often drifts in and out of games, and he still needs to learn about the game and should spend more time at West Bromwich Albion.

Wait for the right offer

There are a few rumours of other clubs waiting in the wings to swoop on Berahino, they all know he is contracted till 2017 with West Bromwich Albion and the English attacker should wait for the right club to make an offer for him. Moving to Manchester United just because they are interested in him would only mean a bench or a loan to another club, instead of thinking about a move to a bigger club at the current moment.
