£60m Chelsea Target Or £50m Englishman: Who Could Be The Ideal Signing For Man United?

Share

Jose Mourinho’s decision to play Ashley Young at left-back has turned out to be a masterstroke with the England international enjoying an excellent season in an unfamiliar position. However, the 32-year-old Young will be out of contract with the Red Devils at the end of the season and Mourinho is probably unlikely to keep him as left-back in the future.

With the January transfer window approaching, Manchester United must look to bring a new left-back soon if they want to keep up with Manchester City for the title challenge this season.

A tough decision to make for Mourinho

Juventus left-back Alex Sandro is said to be one of the players Mourinho is keen on signing with the Brazilian also said to be looking for a move away from Serie A. Manchester United have reportedly granted Mourinho a €90million transfer budget to fix some of the underlying issues in defence.

Sandro who joined Juventus from FC Porto back in 2015 for a fee of €26m was also a target for Manchester City and Chelsea and the Italian champions are reportedly unwilling to sell the Brazilian unless a club comes in with a massive offer.

With Mourinho switching formations regularly, the Red Devils will need a complete defender who can handle the responsibility both in attack and defence.

Another left-back who has also been linked with United is Tottenham’s £50m-rated Danny Rose. The England international has missed a lot of games this year through injury but has finally fully recovered and is once again pushing Ben Davies for a place in the Spurs first team.

Rose has, on many occasions, revealed his interest in leaving the London club in the future and has reportedly upset with Pochettino for not giving a regular place in the first team. The 27-year-old is certainly a great option for Manchester United considering his experience and the progress he has made at Spurs.

When you compare both Danny Rose and Alex Sandro, the Englishman seems like a better option for the Red Devils as the Brazilian has no prior experience of playing in the Premier League.

Not to forget Sandro will not come cheap for Manchester United with Juventus reportedly not encouraging offers less than £60m. On other hand, Spurs would be happy to let go of Danny Rose with Ben Davies doing an excellent job at left-back.

Even Mauricio Pochettino seems to prefer the Welshman over Danny Rose in his team and a deal could be struck in the coming months to keep all sides happy.
