5 Reasons Why Arsenal Will Win The League Title This Season

Share

With the Gunners still in an 8 season trophy drought, this season could see Arsenal pick up some silverware. Let’s see few reasons why Gunners are the favorites to win the league title this season,

1. Mesut Ozil

Mesut Ozil

It may seem a little stupid to state one player as a reason why a team can win a trophy, but in this case it is completely justified. Mesut Ozil smashed the Arsenal transfer record and has proven his worth in North London with 3 goals and 6 assists in the Premier League. This means that Arsenal have finally found the missing link they have been lacking for such a long time, really since Robert Pires left for Villarreal in 2006. The Germany international has instantly become a fan favourite at the Emirates, and this has given the fans and his teammates the confidence needed to take his side to the next level.

2. Form of Aaron Ramsey

Mesut Ozil hasn’t been the only midfielder to be changing Arsenal’s fortunes this season, as Aaron Ramsey has become a key figure in the centre at the Emirates and has become one of the Premier League’s standout players. Much like Florent Malouda’s revival at Chelsea under Carlo Ancelotti in 2010, Ramey has been playing like a big money signing, and seems to have left his inconsistency and injury problems behind him. If Ramsey can keep it up and avoid injury, the Welshman could help lead Arsenal to the league title.

3. Arsene Wenger’s Newfound Ability to Spend Money

Wenger

After splashing big money on Mesut Ozil, the January transfer window could be exciting for Arsenal fans. Now it seems that Arsenal have the money to sign top players and also Wenger is willing to pay top dollar for players he needs. With another few top players signed in January, Arsenal could have the best squad in the Premier League and also become outright title favorites over Chelsea and Manchester City.

4. Wojciech Szczęsny’s transformation

Wojciech Szczesny

The Polish goalkeeper is showing signs of becoming what Arsene Wenger was talking about. With the Frenchman saying he could become an Arsenal legend, another few years like this and he may just be that. With influential displays in goal, his saves against Cardiff City and Everton kept the Gunners in the game. Against the 2 they picked up 4 points and kept their lead at the top.

5. Solid Defence

Koscielny

Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny have formed the best centre-back partnership in England and have kept Arsenal aflot in many tough situations. As defensive problems have come hand in hand with the North London based side in recent years, solid defensive displays will be encouraging for the fans and for the board that Wenger could mastermind another Premier League winning campaign.
