5 PL Players (Including Manchester United And Chelsea Stars) Who Make Us Wonder: What Do They Really Do?

Share

The Premier League is home to some of the biggest stars in the world, we have the Alexis Sanchez’s , the Mesut Ozil’s and the Sergio Aguero’s wowing us with their ability week in and week out but many teams also have a few players who get us thinking ‘what are they doing on the pitch?’

Sure they must have some talent to make it into these teams but more often than not they leave fans scratching their heads. We look at five such players from the Premier League who leave us with bewilderment, not in a good sense but just how are they still playing for a Premier League club?

  1. Joe Allen

The Welsh Xavi, as he is called, is known more for his facial hair which resembles the Italian legend than his playing ability. A star, well a bright player at Swansea, Joe Allen joined Liverpool under Brendan Rodgers and truth be told, most Liverpool fans wouldn’t know what he actually brings into the team.

Allen might have scored in the 3-3 draw against Arsenal but Liverpool fans don’t know what his best position is or what he actually does for the team. It is a miracle he still gets games for the Reds but if he keeps scoring during transfer windows, he will stay at the club.

2. Marouane Fellaini

The big tree in the middle of the park, we saw just a glimpse of his footballing ability at Anfield where he caused close to five Liverpool players to jump at him and he headed the ball onto the bar but it was Rooney who scored the goal.

Fellaini is the option to lump the ball forward to him but he was a decent player when he was at Everton, no know really knows what has happened to him at Manchester United but he seems a better bet at playing as the post for a street football game than make telling contributions throughout a league season for the Red Devils.

3. Aly Cissokho

The former AC Milan and Liverpool left back certainly has had a great time playing for the big clubs but his ability has always been questioned. Aly is now playing for Aston Villa and although he isn’t the reason why they are doing so poorly, it certainly doesn’t bode well for them by having the Frenchman in their team.

Cissokho once had a problem with his transfer to the Milan club due to a dental issue. The French defender is now hoping to keep Aston Villa out from the Championship by avoiding relegation and let’s hope the team can achieve that, with or without his contributions.

4. Radamel Falcao

Radamel Falcao

The player that Falcao was before his knee injury and after just shows how fragile the career of a footballer really is. The Colombian was at the top of the world with his exploits at Porto, Atletico Madrid and Monaco but that injury seems to have robbed him of all his ability to score goals.

Falcao now seems like a player who is on a ride just waiting for the game to end. He barely contributes to his side and it was a surprise to see him sign, on loan, with Chelsea and Jose Mourinho. This didn’t really work out for either player and it is likely that Falcao will move back to Monaco in this transfer window.

5. Rudy Gestede

The Benin international recently joined Aston Villa and even got a goal early on in his career but that was as good as it got for the former Blackburn Rovers star. Gestede seems to have bit off a little more than he can chew and seems to be a fish out of water in the Premier League.

He still is a good player but he isn’t Premier League material and his performances haven’t been all that great either, he probably is one reason why Villa are doing so poorly as they struggle to find an answer to the missing goals and fans would be wondering if they bought the wrong man to replace Christian Benteke.
