5 Cut-price Players That Can Be Snapped Up By Manchester United, Arsenal, And Other EPL Clubs

Bargain targets for Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool.

Well, the January window is a very crucial window for clever signings that give managers another chance to make some final touches and get the team balance right. It requires getting those players who suit the tactics, which most managers apply successfully to the teams by January. There is another key factor in January that many managers consider and that is of the smart cut-price deals for some good players as the contracts of these players run out in the coming summer, meaning their clubs won’t mind selling them for much lower rates instead of losing them for no cost in the coming season, especially when they don’t want the player. Here are five players whom managers can strike a cut price deal with in January.

  1. Nigel De Jong (AC Milan)

The aggressive defensive midfielder played a strong role in Netherland’s great run in the World Cup. He has been a good performer in AC Milan as well. But his contract runs out in the summer of 2015 and there haven’t been talks of an extension as yet. There are some teams in the Premier League who are in need of a destroyer in midfield and there have been rumours of van Gaal being interested in de Jong, a player whom he rates highly.

  1. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (Schalke 04)

His contract is running out this coming summer and he would be a cheap buy in the January for as low as 3 million. Again, teams like Arsenal and Liverpool require strikers to improve their teams. Huntelaar has had successful spells in Spain, Italy and Germany, and it is believed that he would want to spend his final years in the Premier League. He is 31 years old, yet his shooting and finishing is as ruthless as ever. Would be a good buy for a team like Liverpool who are lacking strikers with killer instinct.

  1. Sami Khedira (Real Madrid)

He has been linked with January moves to Arsenal and Chelsea and one main reason is that he isn’t enjoying his role in Real Madrid. His contract runs out in the coming summer obviously making him an option for a cut price deal. Real Madrid have a very attack minded plan for their team and Khedira’s bench role hasn’t been pleasing for him. Arsenal would be a great place for the big German to refresh his career and provide some balance to the Gunners.

  1. Ignazio Abate (AC Milan)

Abate is a good offensive Right Back whose contract is again running out in the summer. If Milan fail to hold on to him, there’ll be a good chance that some top European teams would snap him up for a cut-price deal. There have been rumours about Liverpool monitoring his situation. He would fit the Premier League well because he is a top runner with great stamina as well. His crossing ability is also noteworthy.

  1. Ron Vlaar (Aston Villa)

He is the third Dutch player in this list. He returned to the league after a great show in the World Cup and remained with Aston Villa despite heavy rumours of a transfer to another Premier League club which would be more matching to his talent and form. As of now, Aston Villa have been in a rut with a string of losses.  His contract would be running out next summer and clubs like Man Utd could consider him for a cut price deal.
