4 Goals, 7 Assists – Should Manchester United Try Again For This Barcelona Super Star?

Share

After a disastrous start to the Premier League campaign, the Champions are finally getting into the groove. For the first time perhaps in many months, David Moyes is perhaps getting his team balance just about perfect. With the January Transfer coming in a month and a half, reports have emerged that United Boss David Moyes would be given a whooping transfer kitty of 100m to reinforce his ailing looking squad in a boast to his team’s Premiership Title aspirations.

As evident from the gameplay, United have lacked creativity so far this campaign and much of their goals have come as a result of Rooney dropping deep or some individual sparks which might not be in place on each match day. Last Sunday it was ex Gooner Robin Van Persie who leaped highest to sink his former team. United’s best spark however has been the emerge Adnan Januzaj, whose meteoric rise at such a tender age has caught the imagination of the entire Football Fraternity worldwide. With the likes of young talents in Buttner, Henriques warming the bench for grabbing their chances, United do have the plethora of youth for their future.

Football however is played in the present, so do United have enough in their Armour to retain the title this season? Probably not, but can they have a brilliant Transfer Window and set the tone in the second half of the campaign? In Summer United was linked with former Gooner and current Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas in a bid to lure him to Manchester. Fabregas however claimed he was more than happy under the azure skies of the Camp Nou. This season, Fabregas is showing some great form in La Liga with 4 Goals, 7 Assists.

Should United try again for Cesc Fabregas?

So I feel rather than chasing someone who is clamming not to join a rival team, due to his old priorities, commitments and  club, is like wasting precious time. Rather United should look to someone like a Ikay Gundogan who possesses wonderful bursts of pace, is technically brilliant and more importantly very creative with the eye for the pass even playing from the deep.

Signing someone like him would enable Rooney to play his natural game rather than dropping deep every time and linking up with Van Persie. Moreover he has the creativity in his game to find the pass which both the strikers would love to have their way. With Carrick in midfield and the likes of Kagawa and Valencia or Young on the wing, it would probably suit a 4-4-2 formation at best.

The question though are Dortmund willing to sell and whether the player is interested is or not? While the fiscal ramifications of the price might be in question post transfer, but will United pay that extra bit to land this talented and sublime German from the lands of the Westfalenstadion?
