German international Julian Draxler, who has been constantly linked with Arsenal have come out and claimed that he will remain with the Bundesliga outfit next season despite interest from Arsenal and several other European clubs. The winger who has a release clause of £37 million, looked certain to move to the Emirates in January, but it looks like the Gunners will miss out on yet another summer target.
Earlier last week, Arsenal reportedly missed out on Nuremberg striker Josip Drmic who is heading to Bayer Leverkusen after being told that he will join Arsenal in the summer and from the looks of it, Arsenal’s pursuit of Schalke star appears all but dead.
German newspaper Bild, quoted Draxler as saying:
I have absolutely no thoughts of moving. It is guaranteed that there will be speculation, but it’s very, very likely I will play [at Scahlke] next season.
However, the 20-year-old, has had a injury wrecked season leading to a drought in front of the goal. Draxler scored his only goal for 2014 this weekend in a 4-1 win over Nurnberg. Draxler has a contract with Schalke until 2018 and maybe another season or two in Bundesliga will be enough to mould the winger into a world class talent before moving to the Premier League.
