Three Players Who Could Join Manchester City In The Summer

Pep Guardiola had the worst season of his managerial career in his debut at the Etihad as his Manchester City side have failed to win any kind of silverware. They are favourites to qualify for the Champions League but need to pick up a result in the final game to be able to get into the competition’s group stage.

The Spanish tactician has a long wish list full of players who would improve the current squad at the club. They are not afraid to spend big and if they can qualify for the UCL, they will have no problems fighting with the biggest clubs in Europe for their top transfer targets. So who will Guardiola target this summer? Here are three players who could join the Etihad in the summer:

Jordan Pickford (Sunderland)

The Sunderland shot-stopper is one of the few players who can keep his head held high in a relegation marred season at the Stadium of Light. He has been a revelation in front of goal, helping the Black Cats in every game, making numerous saves from even the toughest of situations. Manchester City do not look convinced with either Claudio Bravo or Willy Caballero and might look at this upcoming English star as their new first-choice goalkeeper next season.

Holger Badstuber (Bayern Munich)

A new player who has been linked with a move to Etihad is long-term Bayern Munich star Badstuber. The 28-year old has been a key figure at the Allianz Arena for almost a decade but has spent the current season on loan at Schalke. He is out of a contract this summer and is set to leave the German outfit on a free transfer and Pep Guardiola will not miss out on an opportunity to strengthen his defence. He was a regular when the duo was in Munich and this partnership could emerge once again, at the Etihad.

Benjamin Mendy (AS Monaco)

Manchester City are a disaster in the full-back positions as they have no first choice options for the next season. Guardiola is looking high and dry for possible options in the transfer window and the French international Benjamin Mendy seems to be a decent option. One of the many sparkling stars at the Stade Louis II this season, Mendy is a left-back with all the traits that make him perfect for the Premier League. Playing as the first choice for Pep Guardiola should be enough of a pull for the 22-year old this summer.
