3 Super Good Replacements For Arsenal’s Most Unlucky Star: Real Madrid Man To Lead The Way

Share

Arsenal fans might be revelling at the fact that they are in first position in the league and could well be on their way to win the Premier League for the first time since 2004. The Gunners have played an exceptional brand of football, which they always have under Arsene Wenger, and with most of the clubs not hitting top gear, Arsenal are in pole position to win the title.

There has been one downside to this season though and that has been the form or lack of it from Jack Wilshere. Truth be told, Wilshere has not played a single competitive minute this season after picking up an injury in preseason and it seems that the English midfielder will be out till February.

Arsene might well be looking to replace the Arsenal player, after all he did get rid of another player with a history of getting injured, Abou Diaby. Although Wilshere does have the talent to excel, no player can be kept on the books for this long without constantly playing. Arsenal do have the money and could well be looking to replace Wilshere with these three players, if Arsene wishes.

İlkay Gündoğan

The 25-year-old German could be the ideal replacement for Wilshere; he has a great range of passing and does have an engine that keeps on going. Gündoğan was expected to leave Dortmund earlier but he stuck around and has been exceptional under new manager Thomas Tuchel.

Gündoğan would cost a bomb though, but it would be a good investment by Arsene as he would be getting a player who can play in a deeper role or in an advanced position as well and with a great eye for the through ball, Ilkay could be made of the ilk that makes the Arsenal midfield extremely tough to beat.

Isco

The Real Madrid attacking midfielder hasn’t really broken into the team and could well be looking for a move away from the Bernabeu. Isco might be the kind of player who can take up the Wilshere role and provide a lot of creativity as well down the middle.

With Ozil already in the team and doing well, another Madrid player could well star for Arsenal. The 23-year-old would be an expensive signing but certainly one for the future as well and he also has a great injury-free record which would certainly be an attractive proposition for Arsene, plus he can play in a range of positions as well, certainly something that Wenger likes.

Victor Wanyama

Coming a little closer to home, Southampton have had one of the best midfielders in the Premier League in the form of the Kenyan Victor Wanyama. The 24-year-old has been one of the breakout stars under Ronald Koeman after his move from Celtic.

There were a lot of rumours linking Wanyama away from St. Mary’s prior to this season but Ronald Koeman put his foot down to ensure the defensive midfielder stays at the club. Wanyama might not have the passing range that Wilshere posses but he can hold the ball really well and control the midfield which would make him a great option to have irrespective of him playing in the Wilshere role, giving Arsenal another dynamic midfielder to deploy.
