Carlos Carvalhal’s tenure as Swansea City manager came to an end last week after the club sacked him following their relegation from the Premier League.

The Portuguese, who succeeded Paul Clement in December 2017, had joined Swansea until the end of the season, with the option of an extension. However, Swansea’s relegation saw him leave the job and now the Welsh outfit are hunting for a fifth permanent manager in two years.

Only time will tell who will be named as Carvalhal’s replacement but Ostersunds manager Graham Potter is reportedly understood to be one of the names under consideration.

However, here are three reasons why Swansea City will make it to the Premier League again for the first time of asking.

Quality squad

Surely, Swansea City didn’t deserve to get relegated. They had a manager in Carlos Carvalhal who turned things around in a jiffy after replacing Paul Clement. Generally, that’s what happens when a new manager comes in as he brings a new aura and fresh enthusiasm to the squad.

However, Carvalhal’s appointment worked wonders at the start but faded in the business end of the season, leading Swansea to relegation.

But considering the quality of players at Swansea, they are very well equipped to make it to the Premier League again.

Sign a manager with top pedigree

So many second-tier clubs spend aggressively in the hope of a crack at the big time. Swansea will begin next season as one of the favourites to secure promotion back to the Premier League.

Following Carvalhal’s sacking, Swansea will be hunting for their 5th permanent manager in just five years, which is absolutely ludicrous. This clearly tells us that the club are in desperate need of stability; a manager who can hold the club through thick and thin.

That being said, the Swansea board must be bold in appointing a manager who can take the football league by storm. Ostersunds manager Graham Potter is lively, energetic, dynamic and has the ability to steer the club back to the top-flight.

Sensible transfer strategy

The experience of playing at the very highest level, the quality of players, and the appointment of a new manager might do well but above all else, patience and a sensible transfer strategy are required.

Swansea have spent well on players in recent years and that needs to continue next season in the Championship. The Welsh club have a proper recruitment drive, which they hope will help them bounce back from the Championship at the first time of asking.
