3 Sensible Summer Targets For Manchester United Including This English Goal Machine

Share

This summer might be an interesting one for Manchester United, last time around they were one of the biggest spenders in the Premier League and brought in a marquee player Angel Di Maria but that didn’t work out so well with Di Maria fading away as the season progressed. United did not have to play in any European games either and this season will be different with the Champions League returning to Old Trafford.

To make up for the extra games, United need to invest in a lot of areas and need to build squad strength. We look at three deals Manchester United should conclude and rather than spend the big bucks, they should spend wisely to strengthen their team.

1. Charlie Austin

Eyebrows will be raised, but one thing is a guarantee with Austin, you will get goals if you play him. Austin played for the now relegated QPR team last season and the 25-year-old will be looking to remain in the Premier League. He will have a lot of suitors, but United should move for him, not only because of their wanting British players in the team, but Charlie can play with Wayne Rooney at the top of the attack.

Radamel Falcao has left the club and Robin Van Persie could follow suit, Austin scored 18 goals in 36 games for QPR and has a great knack of being in the right place at the right time. Him moving to United would make sense for both clubs.

2. Bruno Martins Indi

The 23-year-old seemed a sure shot to get into the Manchester United team last season, he impressed for Holland in the World Cup and when Louis Van Gaal was brought into the club, it seemed just a matter of time for the Dutch international to fly to Manchester.

Unfortunately, that flight from Holland took a slight detour and ended up in Portugal where Indi has spent the last 12 months at Porto. The central defender is just the kind of no-nonsense player that Manchester United need at the back and he still has time to grow and become a better player under Van Gaal.

3. Dani Alves

The Brazilian might be willing to leave Barcelona for a fresh challenge and what could be better than playing for one of the biggest clubs in England during a rebuilding phase? Maybe the rebuilding part doesn’t sound that great but Manchester United can attract almost any player and they have needed an attacking right back for quite a while.

The 32-year-old isn’t the most gifted when it comes to defending but when it comes to attacking, he is a force to be reckoned with and playing with Luke Shaw as the left back, Manchester United could have two of the most attack-minded defenders in the Premier League next season as they look to challenge for the title.
