3 Seasons, 8 International Goals – Arsenal Are Still Waiting To Land This Striker

Share

Arsenal striker Joel Campbell, who is on loan at Olympiacos scored yet another goal for Costa Rica last night, infact it was not before a sprint from the half way line with two defenders close to him, yet Campbell managed to get it past the keeper to register his 8th International goal for Costa Rica and a total of 19 goals including the U-17 and U-19 competitions.

With just 21 years, the attacker is a benchmark for Tricolor. The youngster has already dazzled Europe and has become essential piece of equipment for National team coach Jorge Luis Pinto.

Joel debuted with only 17 years in football. He did it with Deportivo Saprissa, the club he performed most of his training before turning professional. However he did not flourish at Saprissa and rather it was on loan to Puntarenas FC that helped him to develop his footballing knowledge.

It was under the tutelage of coach Ricardo La Volpe that Joel had the opportunity to showcase his talent which paved his way to Europe, when he signed a five year contract with Arsenal. His goal against Bolivia in the 2011 Copa America is not the highlights of his career.

However, the youngster has not managed to play a minute for the Gunners. Campbell is yet to receive his work permit and has been on loan with French club Lorient, La Liga side Real Betis and now at Greek club Olympiacos.

Here is his goal against the US last night.

If the youngster manages to score such goals at International level and managed to get some gametime under his belt at Olympiacos, he might end up at Emirates next term.
