3 Reasons why Manchester United May Find It Hard Against Watford

Watford vs Manchester United

Manchester United return to action in the Premier League with a tough tie against Watford. The promoted side from the Championship have defied the odds and currently sit 11th in the league standings and will look to win another game at Vicarage Road.

The Hornets will be hopeful of another good performance this season, but Manchester United will be looking to bad the three points and go to the top of the table until Manchester City and Arsenal play their respective games.

United haven’t played scintillating football but they are getting the results and that would be the most important thing for Louis van Gaal. If he can get United to perform every game like they have, they could well lift the Premier League crown. Backed by a great back five, Manchester United have gotten the results but this game could be a tough one and we provide three reasons why United would not get the three points.

  1. No Martial, No Rooney

Louis van Gaal stated that their main attacking pair of Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney would miss the game through illness and injury respectively. While Rooney hasn’t played all that great, he still can change the game in a second while Martial has been the star for Manchester United’s attack this season.

The French striker looks a class apart and without him in the team, United would not only struggle to score goals but also to create chances and stretch the Watford defence. This could well be the best chance for Watford to actually get more than one point from this game.

2. Watford are good value this season

Quique Sanchez Flores was brought into the team this season to keep them up this season but the way the Hornets have played, they could well finish in mid – table. Watford do not play the most attacking football, but they are also getting the results when they need them.

Sitting in 11th position, it does not seem likely that they will get relegated soon and with Flores and Ighalo’s goal scoring record could well give them a chance of causing a huge upset.

3. The all – important first goal

Manchester United and Watford don’t score a lot of goals and Manchester United do not concede many goals. The Red Devils have the meanest defence in the league, but Watford too have a record of not losing a game in which they have scored first.

Boyed by a vociferous crowd at Vicarage road, Watford could well be the first team to score the goal that could lead them to victory. Manchester United do not have a lot of attacking options and this is just the kind of luck that Watford need to deny Manchester United all three points on Saturday.
