3 Reasons Why Jose Mourinho Should Recall This Manchester United Outcast

Share

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has done some questionable things in his small tenure with the Old Trafford outfit. Having spent club record fee on players in the transfer market, Mourinho decided to axe a few of his first teamers who were frozen from the squad. One such player, who might mark his return in the plans for Mourinho is the German legend Bastian Schweinsteiger. The 32-year old was axed by the Portuguese tactician and he was made to train with the reserves. Soon after that, there were reports claiming that Schweinsteiger has been told to find a new club but the German stayed intact and he was then made to train all by himself.

However, he was spotted during the first team training ahead of their trip to Istanbul in the group stage of the Europe League. With not much going right for Mourinho at the moment, here are three reasons why this is the right time to get Schweinsteiger back to the first team:

His experience and quality:

Undoubtedly, Schweinsteiger is still one of the best midfielders in the world and he has the eye of a hawk that allows him to produce defense splitting passes while his experience over the years for club and country allow him to dictate the play from midfield. Though he is not at the same level anymore, having got no game time recently, he is still a player who can control the midfield for the Red Devils this season and it would be a shame if he is not even give a go by Mourinho. Schweinsteiger is one of the most experienced players in the United squad and he undoubtedly deserves to be in the squad, at least on the bench regularly this season. Who knows, his experience might help the side get back to winning ways.

Paul Pogba conundrum:

There is no doubting the quality of the French star, as he is among the best midfielders in the world. But he has just not been able to produce that form consistently for United this season. It is clear that Jose Mourinho is not able to play Pogba in his natural position which has surely affected his game and this is something Schweinsteiger will solve in an instance. Knowing the quality of Pogba, the German can sit back and concentrate on providing cover for the back four while his quality will surely help them from the back. This will also allow Paul Pogba to concentrate on linking the midfield with attack and this might help him get back his touch in the Premier League. A midfield of Pogba and Schweinsteiger is mouthwatering and Mourinho should not delay playing them together this season.

Ander Herrera red card:

The Spaniard who has been impressive since returning to first team action has helped Pogba regain some of his confidence. But his recklessness saw him sent off in the second half against Burnley recently. He will only serve a one-match ban and will be available for the European game but Mourinho know that he cannot fall back to Marouane Fellaini as the Belgian has not helped his cause so far this season. Though it is just the one game, Schweinsteiger returning to the first team in the midfield for the Swansea game, whereHerrera is suspended, will give Jose Mourinho a chance to assess the situation, and might also help him stick to a different starting lineup with the German in it for the rest of the season.

Do you think Schweinsteiger should return to the first team at Old Trafford?
