3 Reasons Why Chelsea Will Lose The Title Race To Manchester City

Share

Chelsea will be feeling the heat as their closest rival, Manchester City have drawn level on points with the London club before Chelsea’s match away at Stoke City. Chelsea are considered as favourites for the league title with their massive squad but if they do not take Manchester City seriously they could lose out on the league title.

Manchester City are current Premier League champions, we should not forget that and neither should Chelsea, here are 3 reasons why if Chelsea drop the ball, City will be looking to take the championship away from them.

Manchester City have history of winning the league from behind

Aguero

The first time City won the Premier League they won it after a Sergio Aguero goal in the dying minutes against QPR. What people forget is that for a majority of the season they were trailing Manchester United and they had to overhaul a huge points total to win the league. They had to do the same last season, especially when they lost 3-2 to Liverpool and it looked like the title was for the Reds to take.

City have always tried to get back into a winning position from being behind in the league table, so this situation will not be a new thing for them and Chelsea should be careful with the points they start losing.

Player to come back

Sergio Aguero’s injury is a big blow to the club but seeing how City played against Palace that would not be a problem. City were good value against Palace although it took them quite a while to break the Palace resistance. City still have Jovetic and Dzeko as strikers who can still do a job for the club till their talisman comes back from his injury layoff.

When Aguero comes back from his injury, City will be a different beast. Sergio Aguero is arguably the best striker in the world and although his loss is a huge one for Manchester City, if they can stay within touching distance of Chelsea, Aguero could fire the Citizens to consecutive league titles.

Champion’s pedigree

Another thing going for Manchester City is that they are Champions and have a hunger for the Championship. They want to win another title and have had the experience of winning titles earlier. City seem a different beast this season thanks to their last gasp wins over Munich and the brilliant performance at Roma.

This is something that a Manchester City team would not have been able to do in Europe but their performance in the UEFA Champions league should only serve as a platform for them to get hold of Chelsea and overtake them.

Chelsea need to be careful and the games will only get tougher for the Blues, right now they might be tied with Manchester City but any more slip ups and Jose could be feeling the heat in the middle of winter.
