3 Reasons Why Arsenal Should Splash The Cash For This Lethal Striker

Share

After being linked with a move for the Paris Saint Germain striker, here are 3 reasons why Arsenal should attempt to bring in the former Napoli man.

Lack Of Depth Up Front

Since Thierry Henry departed the Gunners in 2008 for Barcelona, Arsenal haven’t had a striker that even comes close to the legendary Frenchman, but Cavani is one of the few in world football who would have given the former Juventus man a run for his money. With Olivier Giroud growing into his place at Arsenal, a new striker is not of vital importance, but look past the France international and you have 2 strikers that wouldn’t make it on to any of Europe’s top clubs, Yaya Sanogo and Nicklas Bendtner. Cavani would bring the competition Giroud needs to improve himself, and would also give Arsene Wenger a different option in attack, something he hasn’t had since it was Robin van Persie and Eduardo or even Adebayor leading the Arsenal line.

To Take The Step Up And Become One Of Europe’s Better Sides

Arsenal haven’t been one of Europe’s best sides since the mid 2000’s, and that is most likely why it has been 8 years since they last picked up a trophy. With world class talent such as Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla in midfield, and Laurent Koscielny arguably the Premier League’s best defender, what they need most is a striker of the highest quality, and although Giroud is good, he wouldn’t get a place in any of the European elite’s first XI. Cavani is simply one of the best strikers in the world and would take Arsenal back up to the level they were in 2006, meaning that the biggest trophies could become a realistic goal for Arsene Wengers men.

Improve Conversion Rate

Arsenal are a team that creates a lot of chances, Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla are two of the brightest and most creative players in world football, and what they deserve is a striker who can take the majority of chances they work so hard to create. Current Arsenal starter Olivier Giroud has a rather feeble shot accuracy of 44% so far this season, meaning that over half of the chances given to him have been wasted. Cavani doesn’t have that problem, the Uruguayan striker has scored over 150 goals at club level at the age of 26, while at the age of 27, Giroud has struck the back of the net 106 times, almost half of those coming in the French second division.
