3 Reasons Why A Move For This Liverpool Attacker Would Benefit Tottenham In A Huge Way

Share

There has been a lot of talk about Daniel Sturridge’s poor relationship with his new boss Jurgen Klopp. On top of that, there’s a big doubt about his fit with Klopp’s scheme that doesn’t look very comfortable at Anfield so far this season.

So it is natural to think that the talented forward could be on his way out soon, and we can rest assured that he’ll have plenty of suitors to choose from when the next transfer window opens this January.

Having said that, reports have claimed that Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham, who are in need of another reliable scoring option besides Harry Kane and Vincent Janssen, have emerged as favourites to sign the out of favour striker. So we’ll give you the three main reasons why the spurs should try and complete the signing of Daniel Sturridge.

Tottenham’s lack of depth at this position

The Spurs only have two proven “pure” strikers right now in Harry Kane and Vincent Janssen. However, the English forward suffered an injury about a month ago and even if it’s not considered to be very serious, there are some concerns about Kane’s durability and health overall, given the fact that the team has more games to play this season.

On top of that, Janssen is really struggling to live up to the hype that surrounded him when he arrived to White Hart Lane from AZ Alkmaar. Even if Pochettino is being really supportive with the dutch, he has a lot of work to do to give back those 20m the Londoners payed for his services.

The Spurs struggles to score

Even if they sit on the top three spots of this year’s Premier League’s table, and even if they’ve managed to defeat the almighty Manchester City a couple of weeks ago, Tottenham is yet to be the dominant side we all expected them to be, at least offensively speaking.

Through 8 games, Tottenham has only scored 13 goals, owning a mediocre 1.6 goals per game on an average despite being the better team on the pitch in almost every single minute of their matches and having some stunning performances. Sturridge is a proven man, but unfortunately, he has completely lost his place in Klopp’s 4-3-3 set up. But his fate can certainly change once deployed in Pochettino’s 4-2-3-1.

Double Threat

There’s absolutely no reason to think Daniel Sturridge and Harry Kane can’t play side by side, as there’s been some times both have shared the pitch during their duties with the three lions. Besides, they can both play off the ball and spread the field, leaving wide open spaces and creating chances for their teammates.

On top of that, we can’t forget the fact that Daniel is a left footed player while Kane is right footed, and playing both guys at the same time can create complete madness in almost every other team’s defense.

Last but not least, both Kane and Sturridge aren’t the most consistent goal scorers in the league so far and they can get hot as fast as they go ice cold, so it’ll be very good for Tottenham to have more choices in the offensive end when their main option is not having a good time.
