3 Reasons Why Arsenal Fans Should Be Excited About The Prospect Of Signing This Brazilian

Share

Arsenal are set to sign another youngster and this time, they might have signed a player who can do the goal scoring that Olivier Giroud has not been able to do it for a long time. The Gunners are in the race to sign Gabigol or as he is known as Gabriel Barbosa.

The 19-year-old does have a great scoring record for Santos and has scored 54 goals in 148 games for the Brazilian Serie A club and he has also played for the Brazil national side and has scored two goals in four games.

The Gunners should be extremely happy if the deal does go through and here are three reasons why the fans should be excited with the deal.

A crazy scoring record

When Gabriel started playing for Santos, he was on a crazy goal scoring spree and nabbed 600 goals in eight years! That is enough to have given him the crazy name of Gabigol and it has stuck with him ever since.

Even Santos saw the value in the youngster and they tried to tie him down with a value of €50 million, which the Gunners might have to pay to get him to the side. Even the fact that he does not play as a striker most of the time, the record is quite incredible.

Compared to another Brazilian star

His playing style has been linked with another Brazilian striker who has been brilliant for a number of years. We aren’t speaking about Luis Ronaldo but about Neymar. The greatest part is that he might be quick and has a great scoring record but he is not as flashy as Neymar and even does a bit of the dirty work, something that Arsenal players would not mind.

Gabigol also can play out wide and has a great passing ability and movement as well, which again will help the Arsenal team more next season, plus it would also put  a lot of pressure on Olivier Giroud next season as he could be on his way out of the club.

Excellent finisher

One of the biggest gripes that Arsenal fans have had over the years is their lack of a true finisher in the team. Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck will not get the goals that you need but Gabriel is the man for the job.

The 19-year-old is known for his composure in front of goal and that could be a major worry for the other Arsenal strikers but not for the fans.

The need to have quality all around the team is extremely important in this day and age of football and with Gabriel Barbosa on his way to the club, he could turn out to be something of a gem for Arsenal over the years.
