Arsenal will complete the signing of Swiss international Granit Xhaka pretty soon, and some pictures were also leaked of Xhaka wearing an Arsenal kit a couple of days ago. The 23-year-old has been in fantastic form over the years at the Bundesliga side and if he can replicate that at Arsenal, it would certainly lead to a lot of silverware for the Gunners in the future.
Xhaka though will be looking to make a mark in the Premier League, he has been a consistent performer for the Swiss national team as well, but it could be time for him to gain some more experience.
The first big summer transfer is almost done and we provide three reasons why Xhaka could be the player of the season next time about.
The young Schweinsteiger
Xhaka is known for his range of passing and tackling, he was once called as the young Bastian Schweinsteiger, when the German was actually good for Bayern Munich, not the one that plays at Manchester United at the moment.
Xhaka for his part would be a great partner in midfield with Santi Cazorla, one would be recirculating attacks while the other can ping the balls around from the heart of midfield. Xhaka has the ability to be the difference maker for Arsenal and with his ability to pick players with accuracy, he could be the one with a lot of assists next season.
The aggression
What Arsenal have lacked for a number of years is the mean streak in midfield or in defence or even in the attack. They just do not have enough strong and determined character, but Xhaka does not fall under that category.
He does have a reckless nature to his side, but that shouldn’t take away how much steel and solidity he would bring to the Arsenal team. The Swiss midfielder might have picked up three red cards last season for Monchengladbach, that is a worrying sign for sure, but if he tones it down a bit and makes himself the midfield general he could be, Arsenal might just have found their answer to Patrick Vieira in Xhaka.
Leadership
Speaking of the Frenchman Vieira, the former Arsenal star was one of the toughest men on the field and also one of the best leaders the Premier League had ever seen. He could turn the side up even when things weren’t right and Xhaka does have that quality as well.
He is a born leader and with Arsenal not having enough strong characters in the team, the Swiss midfielder could well be the man to pull them out of the trenches when it is needed. The 23-year-old was given the armband for Monchengladbach and it could be a similar feature for Arsenal as well.
Xhaka has the qualities to be one of the best signings this season and Arsene might just have pulled off a coup with the Swiss star coming to the London club.
