3 Reasons Why This £100m Deal Between Tottenham And Manchester United Makes No Sense

Share

It seems like Manchester United are currently being linked with almost any single big name in Europe right now, as the Glazers are keen to take the team back to contention and are more than desperate to make several big signings to bring old glories back to Old Trafford.

After making serious inquiries about Atletico de Madrid’s biggest star Antoine Griezmann, it seems like Jose Mourinho is determined to keep improving his squad in order to face the next Premier League season, and there have been several reports that they’re planning to take away one of the most talented young lads from one of their rivals during this next summer transfer window.

Apparently, the Red Devils have been actively scouting Tottenham Hotspur’s wonderkid Dele Alli for the past 6 months, according to The Sun, and they’re more than willing to pay the £100million fee the Spurs are asking for the youngster, although they’re going to have to compete with other big suitors as Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid.

However, this move doesn’t seem like it is going to make any sense at all for either of the parties involved, and we’ll give you the three main reasons why signing Dele Alli would be a very bad move for the Red Devils.

Spurs would never let him go

Come on, let’s be serious for a moment here. Dele Alli is arguably the most important piece of Tottenham’s young core and Mauricio Pochettino is keen to keep this guy playing together for the long run, so the team has managed to renew and extend all their deals.

Alli has become a major force at White Hart Lane and his development has been so incredibly fast that he’s set to become a Spurs’ legend, if he plays for a long run, so even if Manchester United offers a lot of money (as they’re reportedly intending to), they just won’t let him walk away to a rival team.

Manchester United are already loaded on offence

There’s absolutely no doubt about the youngster’s talent, as he’s one of the most interesting and promising prospects in the world right now. Nevertheless, that huge amount of competition that he could face at Old Trafford won’t be good for anybody.

Dele could be a starter in every single team in the world, but considering how crowded that position is at Manchester United right now, he would be wise to choose another option if he decides to leave the Spurs team, which seems unlikely at the time.

Mourinho won’t be able to control him

Alli’s been known for his hothead and introducing him to a locker room with that much ego could be a time bomb, considering he’d share a lot of time with Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Jose Mourinho, three incredibly narcissistic fellows.

Pochettino has been able to tame the hard-nosed 20-year-old after having several serious talks with him, but it doesn’t seem like Mourinho is going to be as patient as the Argentinian once was, and you know Mou won’t hesitate to kill his career if matters become personal.
