Following a successful showing at the 2014 World Cup, Memphis Depay was brought into English football by former Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal. Big things were expected of Depay who put on a strong showing in Brazil which had quite a few clubs interested in his signature at the time. Having worked with Louis Van Gaal at national level before, it was an understandable temptation to work with him again at Old Trafford. But that hasn’t gone quite to plan as Louis Van Gaal was sent packing at the end of the season and Depay by no means has had a successful introduction to the Premier League.

This season, under Mourinho, hope seems to be dwindling for Memphis Depay. The €45.5 Million rated star has hardly got a look in and has been restricted to rare substitute appearances off the bench. Last season saw a fall in confidence levels for Depay and the starting of this season has been no different. Mourinho just doesn’t seem to rate Depay and has failed to give him the playing time he needs to perform. Depay has just 2 Manchester United league goals to his name and 5 Champions league goals from last season.

Going by his performances at the 2014 World Cup, Depay is clearly a talented player. But the talent he possesses wasn’t rightly handled by Manchester United since his move to Old Trafford. Things don’t seem like they are going to change under Jose Mourinho. Depay might have to go out on loan to resurrect his career. There are reports of Depay rejecting a loan opportunity with Marseille in Ligue 1 and of him wanting to remain in the Premier League. So a loan move to an English club might be the answer to his woes.

Here are 3 clubs that could help Depay to restore himself to his former best by giving him playing time –

Everton

The blue side of Merseyside has begun the campaign strongly, but recently fell victim to a Chelsea thrashing and a thrashing of some sorts it was, as they lost 5-0 at Stamford Bridge. Everton had no answer to Chelsea’s new found attacking nuance and prowess. Depay could be helped out at Everton, who have played host to several loanees in the past. Current Everton striker Romelu Lukaku also had a loan spell before completing a permanent move to Goodison Park. Although Depay will have Bolasie, Mirallas and Lennon to contend with for a starting role, it should be a move that he should take up to get his career back on track. Everton would be the perfect atmosphere, also due to the presence of Ronald Koeman. The Dutchman is sure to look into the reason for his compatriot’s failures in the English league and give him the confidence and advice to perform again.

West Ham

The Hammers might be flirting with relegation at the moment, but they are sure to find their way out of that dreaded side of the Premier League table. Poor form and a raft of injuries have left West Ham helpless and their league position of 17th after 11 games speaks for itself. Their move to the Olympic Stadium was supposed to take West Ham to the next level, but on the evidence of the performances they have put in this season, that will take some doing and needs a lot of efforts. Slaven Bilic is still at the club and will be looking to dip into the transfer market in January to help West Ham’s cause and Depay wouldn’t be a bad option for the Hammers.

Leicester City

Another team that have seriously underperformed this season. The Foxes have failed to reach even half of what they were achieving last season. They played out of their skins to win the Premier League last time around, but this time, needless to say, they will not be defending their maiden Premier League success. Claudio Ranieri has been unable to get his troops on board, unlike the last term, when they had almost every team at their toes. A loan move to Leicester might help Depay and the club too shall benefit from such a move as they need alternatives to Mahrez, Schlupp, Albrighton and Gray.
