Three Players Who Made The Wrong Move During The Summer

The Premier League is already into its 5^th round and the clubs around the country have settled into their respective campaigns at both ends of the points table. The summer transfer window saw the English clubs spend record amounts yet again and there are a number of players who have already made a huge impact on the league.

While a few players have settled in well at their new clubs, a couple of them have failed to get their seasons going. It is not always easy for players to settle in at new clubs so it wouldn’t be a surprise if a few of them feel that they have made the wrong move. So who will feel that way this summer? Here are three players who may have made the wrong move in the transfer window this summer.

Mamadou Sakho (Crystal Palace)

The French defender was not able to win the trust of the Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and was finally sold in the summer. The likes of West Bromwich Albion and even West Ham were interested in his signature but Sakho decided to move to the Selhurst Park, where he spent the second half of previous season on loan. However, with the turmoil in which Palace are at the moment, Sakho would have been better off looking at other destinations.

Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester City)

The Manchester City youngster lost his place to Gabriel Jesus under Pep Guardiola and was sold in the summer. A number of clubs were interested in his signature but Leicester City moved ahead and landed him. However, with the likes of Jamie Vardy, Islam Slimani and even Shinji Okazaki expected to be preferred over him, the Nigerian youngster could have easily received more playing time at other clubs. He may rue his decision even before the end of the season.

Gylfi Sigurdsson (Everton)

The former Swansea playmaker was one of the most productive players last season which saw him attract interests from some of the best clubs in England. Tottenham Hotspur were hot on his heels but Everton managed to sign him up, to add to a number of new faces at the Goodison Park. Sigurdsson has started his time at Merseyside well but with only Europa League to play for, he was better off signing for Spurs, who are fighting in the UCL. At 28, he may not get too many chances to play in the esteemed competition and he may have missed one this summer.
