3 Players Who Could Convert This Arsenal Side Into A Title Challenging One

Share

It is the transfer deadline day and it is the day that football fans all over the world have been looking relentlessly at. It is also the last chance for the clubs to bring in new players to bolster their squad and one could confidently say that after the debacle against Leicester yesterday Arsenal do need a few players to address some pressing concerns and Wenger should make sure that he does not miss this last opportunity to sign some players after missing out on Loic Remy, who signed for Chelsea.

While Remy would have been a ready made solution to some of the problems, there are still other players out there for Wenger to look for and here we give a list of three players that Arsenal could sign before the transfer deadline today.

William Carvalho

Arsenal are interested in this defensive midfielder for a long time and he would be a wonderful signing for Wenger at this moment. The Arsenal midfield do need some muscle and Carvalho is one of the very best out there. The Sporting Lisbon player can also play as a defender and the bookies have already made him favourites to sign for Arsenal today as Wenger has already revealed that he is looking to sign players who can play in multiple positions.

A defensive midfielder has always been the pressing concern at Arsenal for the last couple of seasons as Wenger never really replaced Alex Song. Arteta, Flamini and Jack Wilshere are not the kind of players who can protect the back four against top teams.

Carvalho would certainly be able to command the Arsenal midfield, something which they are lacking at the moment. Blessed with raw power and physicality, Carvalho is ideal for the English Premier League and Wenger knows that better than many. The only obstacle seem to the price of Carvalho with Sporting not ready to let the player go for a fee of £20 million, beyond which Arsenal are not ready to spend. But if the fee can be worked out, Carvalho would be a great signing for Arsenal.

Falcao

Many would say that this is too steep a name for Arsenal to try and sign on the deadline day, but they we would ask them to take a moment and try to remember what happened exactly one year ago on the deadline day. Mesut Ozil became an Arsenal player for £42.4 million on the deadline day and Wenger may just pull out another rabbit out of the hat to sign Falcao this time. The Colombian star would be a huge name for Arsenal and would solve all their strike problems at one go. Monaco are reportedly ready to let him go and he is also unsettled in France. But then Real Madrid can play spoilsport and hijack this deal.

Adrien Rabiot

The PSG youngster is also on Arsenal’s radar and although AS Roma are in pole position to land him, nothing about that deal is official yet, providing Arsenal the opportunity to get him today. He is primarily a central midfielder, who can couple up as a defensive midfielder. He has shown enough promise to get the attention of the European giants and is keen to leave PSG, where his chances would be limited due to the flush of world class talents. Wenger is extremely good with young French kids and Rabiot should excel under him.
