3 Players Tottenham Should Sell In The Summer Window – Featuring A FC Koln Target

Share

The January transfer window came and went by and now the teams will get started on their plans for the upcoming window in the summer of 2017. Not many clubs like to invest heavily in the winter period, possibly because of the lack of time that can be afforded to the new signing to bed in and hence prefer the July transfer window which gives the incoming players proper time to get used to conditions, match practice from the pre-season. And when some players come in, some have to depart to make way.

There wasn’t much happening around the White Hart Lane in the recently concluded window, but major signings will be expected in the summer as Tottenham go about establishing themselves as a force to be reckoned with in Europe. And for that to happen, funds need to be generated which would mean some players will be facing the axe come July.

Here are three players, who should be the ones to depart from the North London in the upcoming transfer window:

Vincent Janssen

The summer signing has found it tough going in the English top-flight. Janssen has looked out of depth every time he has taken the field for Tottenham this season and has failed to inspire confidence among the fans. In his 27 appearances for Tottenham this season, Janssen has only scored four times. And shockingly, none of these goals have come from open play.

The Dutchman has netted all of his four strikes from the penalty spot. He looks utterly clueless and deprived of confidence on the field and has failed miserably to adapt to the way Tottenham play under Pochettino. He did get a regular run in the team when Harry Kane was out injured, but Janssen failed to make the most of it and has been playing bit-part role ever since. Given his run and his unsuitability and failure to adapt to the rigours of the English football, Janssen should be sold by Spurs in the summer.

Kevin Wimmer

The Austrian centre-back is another player who has endured a difficult season so far for Tottenham. Wimmer impressed heavily in his handful appearances last season and was rewarded with a new contract as well by Pochettino. However, things have gone downhill for Wimmer this season and how.

Wimmer had first gotten his chances this season when Toby Alderweireld was out injured, but he struggled miserably. In recent weeks, he started twice for Tottenham post Jan Vertonghen’s injury and on both occasions, was taken off at half-time owing to his nervy and insipid displays. With his former club FC Koln interested in signing him back, Spurs would be better served in shipping him off and find a better replacement.

Georges-Kevin N’Koudou

Another summer signing who has struggled to get going for Tottenham, Georges-Kevin N’Koudou will most likely be headed out next season. The French youth international arrived with much promise from Marseille, but has been a peripheral figure for the Lilywhites.

The 21-year old has featured only 12 times for Tottenham this season and has failed to net a single goal, and further has a single assist against his name. While there is potential in plenty, N’Koudou is nearly not at the level of quality that Tottenham requires as they turn into a club challenging for the title on a regular basis. Much like Clinton N’Jie last season, Pochettino’s search for a young wide player hasn’t come up good and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see N’Koudou leave in the summer.
