With the title all wrapped up, Jose Mourinho can plan for Premier League domination next season, he has always been on the lookout to make his team stronger and even has taken some rather drastic decisions in terms of dealing with transfers.
Everyone raised their eyebrows when they sold Mata and Luiz for large sums of money but that didn’t faze Mourinho as he invested that amount in the team and it paid off with them winning the Premier League title this season. Next season they will face competition yet again for the crown and Mourinho will be looking to bolster his squad. The transfer window will be coming up soon and Chelsea will need to shed some dead weight before they can sign some new players, we look at 3 players who need to be sold from the Chelsea team before the start of next season.
Petr Cech
Not being a dead weight but he could be seen as a distraction to the young Courtois, Cech is still regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League and he needs to play regular football which will not be available at Chelsea.
Cech seems to be in the transfer market and Jose Mourinho will ensure that he gets the best price for the Czech goalkeeper, Petr still has a couple of good seasons in him, maybe even more and he would be an invaluable asset to any team he joins, not only for his ability but also for his leadership skills.
John Obi Mikel
The Nigerian at one point of time was a special player for Chelsea but now only gets a few chances to start for the club. The pairing of Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic seem unbreakable and that would mean that Mikel would be on the bench more often than not for Chelsea.
He would probably be sold next season as he does not provide the same ability that he used to possess and with Chelsea having so many gifted youngsters in the team; it might be hard for John to remain even on the bench at times next season.
Filipe Luis
The Brazilian defender expected to do a lot for the Blue of Chelsea after signing from La Liga Champions Atletico Madrid, but the season has not panned out the way it should have. He has been in the shadow of Cesar ‘Dave’ Azpilicueta and that would seem to be the case for next season as well.
He is 29-years-old and isn’t getting any younger and Chelsea could be sending him back to Spain if they seem that they have some other player in their mind, which would be the case thanks to the plethora of players they have out on loan.
