3 perfect replacements for David de Gea if he leaves Manchester United

Share

The rumours just won’t go away, when Real Madrid decide they need to buy a player for a certain position, they go the whole hog and almost every top player for that position is linked with the Madrid giants.

Iker Casillas has had an amazing career for Los Galacticos but every star does fade out at some point. Recent performances by the Spaniard for the national team and Real Madrid have questioned his ability and it may be time to replace the goalkeeper, who would be replacing one Spanish international at Real? Why another Spanish international of course.

David De Gea

David de Gea has been the best player at Manchester United for the past 2 seasons, with the entire team struggling to find its foothold after the Alex Ferguson era. If rumours are to be believed, De Gea is the top target to replace Iker Casillas, to replace on good goalkeeper and United would need to sign up another top goalkeeper and here are 3 ready-made replacements for the Spaniard all from the Premier League.

1. Asmir Begovic – Stoke City

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international has been one of the best performers for Stoke City and was considered to be one of the players who would be signed by United before they made the De Gea signing 2 years ago. Ever since he signed for the club from Portsmouth, he has been a revelation. Last season he had 9 clean sheets for the club from 32 games in the league.  The 27 year old is strong in the air and has great reflexes and would be a pretty astute signing for the Manchester club.

2. Fraser Forster – Southampton

There is something about the club from the South of England, even though half their team were sold last season, they have come back stronger. Forster was signed from Scottish champions Celtic in the off season and has revelled in his new home. Forster has been in exceptional form for Southampton and has kept the most clean sheets in the Premier League this season with 7 clean sheets from 11 games. His performance has even caught the eye of Roy Hodgson and is now an English international. The English goalkeeper is only 26 years old and he could be the ideal replacement since he is English.

3. Hugo Lloris

The French international goalkeeper signed from Lyon in 2012 has been a mainstay for the Spurs side, last season he kept 14 clean sheets in 37 games in the Premier League. Lloris is an excellent goalkeeper and is a good shot stopper, plus he is great at coming out for corners and collecting crosses, something that De Gea has had to work on a lot during this off season. The Tottenham star is one of the best goal keeper in the league and he would be yet another smart buy to replace David de Gea.
