3 Pacey Replacements For Arsenal’s Speed Merchant: Featuring A Swiss Winger

Share

Theo Walcott is one of those players that just cannot seem to hit the right stride for Arsenal. Even when he is played as a striker instead of as a winger, his performances this season haven’t been all that great to show. In the game against Manchester United, he was extremely poor but again in some games he is unplayable.

It is this kind of inconsistency that might not work for Arsene Wenger as he looks to finally end his decade-long duck of not winning the Premier League. Arsenal may win the league this season but certainly they need a winger or attacker who can get the job done for them.

The transfer window in the summer will be important for Arsenal as they would be looking to push on from the current performance levels and we provide three replacements for the English Speed merchant who could be targeted by Wenger soon.

  1. Xherdan Shaqiri
Xherdan Shaqiri

A surprising signing for many when Xherdan signed for the Potters at the start of the season. He probably was looking for a taste of the Premier League and moving to a side which isn’t expected to challenge for the title does provide lesser expectations and pressure.

Shaqiri though has shown glimpses of what he is capable of when playing in the league. The Swiss international is crafty and pacey enough to replace Walcott or any other player in the league. Arsene would probably have to pay a bucket load to sign him from Stoke but it would be a wise move for the present and the future.

2. Karim Bellarabi

The Bundesliga star has been making a name for himself at Bayer Leverkusen and certainly seems to be doing a great job of it this season. He is one of the fastest players in the Bundesliga but certainly does have an eye for goal as well, something which could attract interest from Wenger.

Bellarabi isn’t the youngest player in the world and is a late bloomer at 25 but he does know his role and that would be a valuable addition to the Arsenal team. The Bundesliga does produce great talent and this is another German who could do well for Arsenal next season.

3. Yannick Carrasco

A surprise for many when the Belgian moved to Atletico Madrid from Monaco, Carrasco could well be the man that slots perfectly into Arsenal with his direct running, pace and incredible attacking ability. The crafty player is an out and out winger and there wouldn’t be any doubts about whether he should play as a striker anymore.

Carrasco is someone who likes to play out wide and then whip the ball into dangerous areas. His pace would make him a handful for any defence in the Premier League but he isn’t the most physical when it comes to dealing with defenders. The 22-year-old could be a surprise from Wenger but that would be incredible for the team and the Premier League as well.
