3 New Midfielders To Keep An Eye On This Season (PL): Featuring Chelsea And Newcastle United Stars

Share

New signings are like lottery tickets, you expect to win the big prize but more often than not, you end up with absolutely nothing. The Premier League continues to attract some of the best players in the world and we expect them to click right from the first game.

While the big clubs spend a ton of money making their team better, the smaller clubs also get some of the best deals. We remember how Southampton have done under Koeman or how Stoke City has grown and signed Krkic last season to play for them. Well, we provide you three midfielders who could do wonders for their club this season.

3. Georginio Wijnaldum

Whatever happens this season, one team to keep an eye out for is Newcastle. They seem to have brought in a coach who they believe in and Steve McClaren seems to have started his reign in quite a lot of style. McClaren has signed Wijnaldum from PSV and this could be one of the greatest coups of this Premier League season. Wijnaldum is one of the most exciting players in the Dutch league and he will be looking to prove his ability. The greatest surprise is how Steve was able to make this signing as Wijnaldum was tracked by a lot of top clubs; it seems his time at Holland has helped him learn about the best players.

2. Jordy Clasie

Another player who seems to have slipped by the bigger clubs, Ronald Koeman though has used his scouting network really well yet again in snapping up the 24-year-old player. Jordy was signed for a modest £8 million by Koeman and well, it is a case of reunion as it was Koeman who brought the young midfielder into the Feyenoord team all those years ago. Tenacious, great vision and great technique, Clasie could provide just that, a lot of class to the Southampton team this season. Koeman deserves a medal for pulling this deal from out of nowhere.

1. Marco van Ginkel

Okay, so it seems that the Dutch will take over the midfielders ‘to be watched’ tag next season. Another Dutch midfielder, this time will play for Stoke, on loan from Chelsea. Marco spent last season on loan at Milan and while he wants to play for Chelsea sometime in the future, right now he can show his capabilities in midfield at Stoke. Chelsea will be expecting great stuff from Marco and so will Stoke as they look to build on the great work by Mark Hughes.
