Fonseca, 45, is still young and has exhibited his ability to nurture talents as well. West Ham United, meanwhile, are also chasing his signature and the Toffees must act faster to sign Fonseca.

Marco Silva

Despite his successful stints with Sporting CP and Olympiacos, Silva first gained attention during his short yet impressive spell with a struggling Hull City side during the latter months of the 2016-17 Premier League season.

Although the Tigers failed to avoid an inevitable relegation, the young Portuguese manager earned plaudits from the pundits due to his game-reading and style of football.

Silva opted to join Watford and handed them a glorious inception in early months but a series of poor outcomes led to his shocking dismissal. However, the manifest charm and an ability to implement his philosophy in Premier League football might help the Toffees shake off their misery and re-establish their essence.

Gary Rowett

The current Derby County boss almost nailed a Premier League promotion in just more than a year in charge. Although the Rams were knocked out from the playoffs by Fulham, his instant impact at Pride Park Stadium demonstrates his managerial excellence.

The 44-year-old Englishman had a brief spell at Goodison Park during his playing days and could be delighted to take charge of the Toffees despite signing a contract extension at Derby County only a few months back.
