3 Ideal replacements for Sam Allardyce who Everton can consider including Derby County boss

Share

Everton have rarely hit the ground since the departure of David Moyes, who brought in some stability at the club on a shoestring budget but opted to join Manchester United as Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor. The dismal outcome is known to all and neither Moyes nor the Toffees has managed to settle down ever since.

The appointment of Roberto Martinez, Ronald Koeman and most recently Sam Allardyce did not work out either and the money spent by new co-owner Farhad Moshiri was wasted by Koeman last summer.

The Dutchman witnessed a downfall that put Everton in a relegation fight and eventually faced a dismissal, being replaced by veteran Sam Allardyce who, despite guiding them to a top-half league finish, was criticised vehemently for the dull, dire and tedious football that he injected at Goodison Park. The club, therefore, officially announced Allardyce’s dismissal on Wednesday afternoon and the search for a new long-term successor is already on.

Here are three managers who must be approached by Everton as they look to establish some stability at the club.

Paulo Fonseca

The Portuguese tactician has not only made Shakhtar Donetsk back to back Ukrainian champions but also earned massive credits for progressing through to the Champions League knockouts ahead of Napoli and Feyenoord.

Paulo Fonseca

He also defeated the mighty Manchester City at Metalist Stadium to ensure a place in the Champions League round of 16.

Fonseca, 45, is still young and has exhibited his ability to nurture talents as well. West Ham United, meanwhile, are also chasing his signature and the Toffees must act faster to sign Fonseca.

Marco Silva

Despite his successful stints with Sporting CP and Olympiacos, Silva first gained attention during his short yet impressive spell with a struggling Hull City side during the latter months of the 2016-17 Premier League season.

Although the Tigers failed to avoid an inevitable relegation, the young Portuguese manager earned plaudits from the pundits due to his game-reading and style of football.

Marco Silva

Silva opted to join Watford and handed them a glorious inception in early months but a series of poor outcomes led to his shocking dismissal. However, the manifest charm and an ability to implement his philosophy in Premier League football might help the Toffees shake off their misery and re-establish their essence.

Gary Rowett

The current Derby County boss almost nailed a Premier League promotion in just more than a year in charge. Although the Rams were knocked out from the playoffs by Fulham, his instant impact at Pride Park Stadium demonstrates his managerial excellence.

Gary Rowett

The 44-year-old Englishman had a brief spell at Goodison Park during his playing days and could be delighted to take charge of the Toffees despite signing a contract extension at Derby County only a few months back.
