3 Former transfer targets Leicester City could revisit this summer including ‘Portuguese Eden Hazard’

Leicester City finished the season in 9th place in the English Premier League, which is a respectable position for a club of their size. However, the sensational champions of the 2015/16 season have every right to aim higher. Claude Puel should be having a wealth of targets in his mind to improve his team and get them higher up the table next season.

With Mahrez looking likely to move to Manchester City in the summer, Leicester have a good opportunity to utilise the funds of his sale and get some new players. Here are 3 former transfer targets who the club must actively pursue again.

Andros Townsend

The pacy Crystal Palace winger was on the radar of Leicester City last year as they anticipated Mahrez’s departure. Townsend has the ability to replace a player of Mahrez’s flair and quality. Even if Leicester somehow manage to keep Mahrez, they should try their best to get the former Tottenham man, who is a real live wire out wide on the pitch.

Andros Townsend

With 2 goals and 7 assists for the season, Townsend was among the most important players for the Eagles this season. The English winger has great quality in terms of dribbling and crossing.

Jonny Evans

Jonny Evans was of great interest to a number of clubs, including Leicester City, during the last summer transfer window. However, a move never materialised due to West Bromwich Albion holding out for a significant fee, which was never met by suitors. With West Brom relegated, Leicester and other interested parties should have another go for a player who will be certainly looking for a way out.

The Foxes have once again been linked with the defender, who is now available for a mere £3m following the Baggies’ relegation from the Premier League.

Evans is a quality defender and the fact that he is available on the cheap makes him a very good option for Leicester to look at.

Jonny Evans

Rafa Silva

The Benfica winger was linked to a move to Leicester City in January. Rafa, 25 years old, has great pace to burn and the quality on the ball to make an impact in the final third. He has been on the football scene for years now and the next step in his career could help him reach the next level in his development.

Known for his dribbling, pace and crossing on the flanks, Rafa had a decent season with Benfica, where he scored 3 goals and provided 4 assists. Leicester City can look to sign the ‘Portuguese Eden Hazard‘ to bolster their attacking options.
